Search engine optimization, also known as SEO, is the process of improving your website and online presence to make it more visible when people search for things related to your business in search engines like Google, Bing, and others. The more visible you are in search results, the more often you will capture the attention of prospective customers.

Why is SEO Important?

With such a large percentage of consumers (90%!) using the internet to research new purchases both locally and nationally, being visible and prominent in search engines is a must if you want to be found by new customer. Simply put – if you’re not on page 1 for the main search terms related to your business, 90% of your prospective customers may never even know you exist.

What is On-page SEO?

On-page SEO refers to the techniques and strategies used directly on your website, to ensure it will rank on a search engine results page. This also affects how well each page in particular ranks.

On-page SEO:

  • Hx Tag Optimizations (H1, H2, etc.)
  • Page Title & Meta Optimization
  • Content Optimization
  • Image Alt Tag Optimizations
  • Internal Linking Optimizations
  • Schema & Canonical Link Set up
  • Google & Bing Search Console Configuration
  • Sitemap Submission

Why is On-page SEO Important?

On-page SEO is important because Google and other search engines can only understand what your site is about, what service you offer, and where you offer it, by reading what is written on your website. “Content is King” is a common expression in the SEO world – if your content (including headings, body text, links, images, embedded data) properly reflects what your business is about, then it is much easier for search engines to deliver your website to users in search results.

What is Off-page SEO?

Off-page SEO consists of actions and strategies taken outside of your website, to impact rankings within search engine results pages (SERPs). Most commonly known as “backlinks,” off-page SEO is about showing search engines that your site is well-connected and authoritative on the internet. Here are some examples of off-page SEO strategies:

Off-page SEO:

  • Local or National Business Citations
  • Backlinks from Press Releases
  • Guest Blog Post Backlinks
  • Social Bookmarking
  • Premium Directory Links
  • Video Sharing

Why is Off-page SEO Important?

Off-page SEO is important because while your site needs to be filled with great content, it also needs to show some authority among the billions of web presences out there. A great off-page SEO strategy compliments the on-page strategy, by ensuring that your site is listed across the internet, and well-connected to other high-authority websites. By establishing these connections, search engines deem your site to be more worthy of ranking well in SERPs.
